1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using PrepQuest ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using the Service.

Age requirements:

  • To create a free account, you must be at least 13 years old.
  • To purchase a Pro subscription, you must be at least 18 years old.
  • If you are between 13 and 17, you may use the free tier with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use PrepQuest.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and PrepQuest ("we," "us," or "our"). If you are using PrepQuest on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

PrepQuest is a CFA exam preparation platform available at prepquest.io. It provides gamified lessons, quizzes, flashcards, and progress tracking tools designed to help candidates prepare for the CFA Program exams.

What PrepQuest offers:

Free tier (no payment required):

  • Access to CFA Level 1 content for three topics: Ethics & Professional Standards, Quantitative Methods, and Economics
  • Sample quizzes and basic flashcard sets for free topics
  • XP and progress tracking for free content
  • No time limit on free content

Pro subscription ($19/month or $149/year):

  • Full access to CFA Level 1 (all 10 topics), Level 2 (all 10 topic areas), and Level 3 (5 core topics + all 3 specialist pathways)
  • Unlimited quizzes and flashcards for all content
  • Boss Battles (50-question timed topic exams)
  • Personalized Study Plan based on your exam date
  • Full achievement system and performance analytics

  • PrepQuest is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected to CFA Institute.
  • CFA® is a registered trademark of CFA Institute.
  • PrepQuest is a study aid and preparation tool. It does not guarantee that you will pass the CFA exam. Your results depend on your own effort, preparation, and exam performance.
  • PrepQuest content is supplementary study material, not a substitute for the official CFA curriculum published by CFA Institute.

3. Accounts

Creating an account

You must provide a valid email address and create a password (or authenticate via a supported OAuth provider). You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

Account security

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your password confidential
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access (via our contact form)

Do not share your account credentials with anyone. PrepQuest is a personal subscription: your login is for one person only.

One account per person

Creating multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits is prohibited. If we detect this, we may suspend or permanently delete the additional accounts.

Account suspension

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraud or abuse
  • Attempt to circumvent access controls
  • Are used for purposes that harm other users or PrepQuest

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before suspension unless the violation is severe or ongoing. If you believe your account was suspended in error, send us a message via our contact form.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Pricing

  • Monthly: $19.00 USD per month
  • Annual: $149.00 USD per year (equivalent to $12.42/month)

Prices are in US dollars and are charged in advance at the start of each billing period.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual). By subscribing, you authorize PrepQuest and Stripe (our payment processor) to charge your payment method at renewal.

You will receive an email reminder before annual renewals. Monthly renewals do not include a reminder email.

Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain full Pro access until then. After cancellation, your account automatically reverts to the free tier.

We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

Refunds

We do not offer refunds for subscription payments except where required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, send us a message via our contact form within 10 days of the charge.

If you are in the EU or another jurisdiction that provides a statutory right of withdrawal for digital services, you may be entitled to a refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not accessed the Pro content. Use our contact form to request this.

Price changes

We may change our subscription prices in the future. If we do:

  • We will notify existing subscribers by email at least 30 days before the new price takes effect
  • The new price will apply at your next renewal after the effective date
  • If you do not agree to the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect

Payment processing

All payments are processed by Stripe. PrepQuest does not store or have access to your credit card number, billing address, or payment details. Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy govern the payment relationship.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use PrepQuest only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others.

You may not:

Content restrictions:

  • Share, resell, redistribute, or sublicense PrepQuest content (lessons, quizzes, flashcards, explanations) to any third party
  • Copy, reproduce, screenshot-scrape, or systematically extract PrepQuest content for any purpose
  • Upload or share PrepQuest content on social media, forums, or other platforms in bulk

Technical restrictions:

  • Attempt to bypass, circumvent, or reverse-engineer access controls or subscription gating
  • Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or scripts to access, crawl, or download PrepQuest content
  • Attempt to access database records, API endpoints, or backend infrastructure that you are not authorized to access
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without prior written authorization

Account restrictions:

  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use another person's account without their explicit permission

General restrictions:

  • Use PrepQuest to harm, defraud, or harass other users
  • Engage in any activity that disrupts or degrades the performance of PrepQuest for other users
  • Attempt to impersonate PrepQuest, its staff, or other users

Violations of these restrictions may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

6. Intellectual Property

PrepQuest's content

All PrepQuest content, including but not limited to lessons, quiz questions, explanations, flashcards, visual designs, the PrepQuest logo, and the software that powers the platform, is owned by PrepQuest and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use PrepQuest content for your personal CFA exam preparation. This license does not permit you to copy, modify, distribute, or use PrepQuest content for any commercial purpose.

CFA Institute trademark

CFA® is a registered trademark of CFA Institute. PrepQuest is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CFA Institute. The use of "CFA" in PrepQuest's content and marketing refers to the exam and curriculum, not any affiliation with CFA Institute.

Your data

Your personal study data (progress, quiz scores, XP, achievements) belongs to you. We hold it on your behalf to run the Service. You can request an export or deletion at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

User-generated content

PrepQuest does not currently offer features that allow users to submit content. If such features are added in the future, this section will be updated.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

PrepQuest is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We do not warrant that:

  • PrepQuest will be available uninterrupted or error-free at all times (though we aim for 99%+ uptime)
  • All content is free from errors, though we work to keep it accurate
  • Using PrepQuest will result in you passing the CFA exam. Outcomes depend entirely on your effort and preparation.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PrepQuest disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • PrepQuest's total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid to PrepQuest in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • PrepQuest is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of opportunity, even if PrepQuest has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  • PrepQuest is not liable for your exam performance or any decisions you make based on PrepQuest content.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

9. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Mexico (or the jurisdiction where PrepQuest is incorporated), without regard to conflict of law principles.

Dispute resolution

We'd prefer to resolve any dispute directly. If you have a concern, send us a message via our contact form. We'll do our best to sort it out.

If we can't resolve a dispute informally within 30 days, either party may pursue resolution through binding arbitration under the rules of a recognized arbitration body, or through small claims court if the dispute qualifies. Class action lawsuits are waived to the extent permitted by law.

For EU users: Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under EU consumer protection law. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/odr).

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes:

  • We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect
  • Continued use of PrepQuest after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms

For minor, non-material changes (e.g., typo corrections, formatting), we may update without notice.

If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should cancel your subscription and stop using PrepQuest before the changes take effect.
